Description:
Created during (2006 - 2020), more towards the early to mid part of this period, which I call Early to Mid-Chapter 1. “The Ocean” is a reflection on depth—of thought, of emotion, of the spaces we carry within us. It explores the ocean as a metaphor for the subconscious, where emotions ripple beneath the surface and hidden layers reveal themselves over time.
Deep within the ocean of the mind
the soul calls
the heart answers
..
Lost in stillness
I am submerged
listening
to the layers within
..
To everything
that is inside
..
Deep underwater
I see the mirrored
reflections of others
hurting
searching
..
I am
the sea
listening
floating
waiting
for the ocean to set us free
As with water, this piece carries both stillness and movement—words flowing across the canvas like currents, symbols appearing and disappearing like fleeting thoughts. The layers of deep blues and fluid lines invite the viewer to immerse themselves in the quiet and complexity of the mind.
There is a tear in the canvas, intentionally left as part of the piece. I embrace imperfection as a reflection of life itself—the flaws, the breaks, the raw honesty that makes something whole.
A piece about introspection. About floating in the unknown. About listening to the silence beneath the waves.
