Hidden Faces

Hidden Faces are the inspiration and process for my drawings. They make me feel connected and free. As soon as I start to draw the faces, my brain tells me that I can’t draw them. I used to just stop but now I connect with the idea that they are a sign. I continue to draw, express and allow the mistakes and marks to continue so that the new characters can come to life.

They are my little 'helpers', guiding me on my path. My hidden faces started from when I was a kid looking at the ceiling where I would find characters. My Mum was always reading my coffee cups, reading my future from cards, and warning against the evil eye (general persian superstition). I was in tune with that process from a young age.  Over time, I learnt how to channel that into my creativity and imagination without taking it to literally.
